Compostable Dog Waste Bag Certifications: BPI, OK Compost Explained
BPI, OK compost INDUSTRIAL and OK compost HOME: certificate numbers, standards, thickness limits and validity periods for compostable dog waste bag materials.
Compostable claims are only as strong as the certification behind them. For buyers sourcing biodegradable or compostable dog waste bags, the certificate numbers, standards and expiry dates matter more than the word on the box. This page summarises the certifications that apply to the compostable material we manufacture with, and what each one covers.
Why Certifications Decide the Order
Marketplaces, retailers and distributors increasingly require third-party documentation before approving a compostable product. A supplier who cannot name the standard, the certificate number and the issuing body puts the whole listing at risk. The three schemes below are the ones most often requested for dog waste bags targeting the United States and European markets.
BPI Certification (United States)
The Biodegradable Products Institute certifies compostable products against ASTM D6400, the US standard for compostable plastics. Our compostable film is produced from uncolored C200 resin with BPI certification, valid until January 31, 2028, covering a maximum thickness of 143 microns. The certificate covers the resin; finished products made from it are manufactured to the corresponding specification.
TUV OK Compost INDUSTRIAL (Europe)
The OK compost INDUSTRIAL mark, issued by TUV Austria, confirms conformity with EN 13432 - the European standard for packaging recoverable through composting and biodegradation. The certification for the C200 resin family is valid from August 20, 2024 until August 20, 2029, covering a maximum nominal film thickness of 78 microns.
TUV OK Compost HOME (Home Composting)
The OK compost HOME mark applies to products that compost in a home compost environment, assessed against the NF T 51-800 methodology. The certification for the C200 resin family is valid from December 23, 2024 until December 23, 2029, covering a maximum nominal film thickness of 71 microns. Home-compostable claims require this mark - industrial certification alone does not support them.
What the Certificates Cover - and What They Do Not
Each certificate covers a specific material or resin family at a stated maximum thickness. If a project exceeds that thickness, or uses a different material, the certificate no longer applies and the claim cannot be made. This is why we confirm the exact film specification against the certificate before quoting a compostable program, and why buyers should ask for the same check from every supplier comparing for the same project.

OK compost INDUSTRIAL (EN 13432): certificate TA8011400932, valid until August 20, 2029, maximum thickness 78 microns. OK compost HOME (NF T 51-800): certificate TA8021702011, valid until December 23, 2029, maximum thickness 71 microns.
Certificates are issued to the material producer, Zhuhai Kingfa Biomaterial Co., Ltd., and apply to the C200 resin family used in our compostable film production. Copies of the certificates are available to buyers on request during the quotation process.
How to Verify Before You Order
Ask for three things: the certificate number, the issuing body, and the validity period, then check the certificate's stated maximum thickness against the film thickness in your specification. If the finished product claims compostability, request the documentation trail from resin to finished bag. A manufacturer who supplies this without being pushed is usually the one whose production claims will survive scrutiny.
