Three Wipe Materials to Compare
Bamboo fiber wipes offer a soft, premium feel and a strong sustainability story. They suit brands targeting eco-conscious consumers and higher price points, staying strong when wet while remaining gentle on paws and coats.
Biodegradable 100% viscose is a plant-based option for brands that need a biodegradable claim. It combines softness with dependable wet strength, and works well for grooming and everyday cleaning formats.
Spunlace nonwoven is the workhorse material: soft, strong and cost-effective. Polyester and viscose blends in the 40 to 90 gsm range cover most everyday pet wipe applications, from paws and coats to eye and ear care.
Formats, Sizes and Counts
Sheet size and pack count should follow the use case rather than a generic standard. Everyday body wipes typically run 14 x 18 cm up to 18 x 25 cm, packed 80 to 100 sheets per pouch. Glove-format wipes, shaped to fit a hand for full-body cleanup without a bath, commonly measure 23 x 25 cm and ship six to a pack.
Targeted formats are smaller by design. Eye wipes use 5 x 5 cm round pads, dental and ear finger wipes sit around 3.8 x 8 cm, and paw or travel wipes run 10 to 25 counts per pack. Matching sheet size to the intended use keeps material cost aligned with what the product actually does.
Formula Decisions
Most private-label pet wipe programs start from a neutral unscented base, then add options. Alcohol-free formulas are the default for eye, ear and dental applications. Fragrance can be neutral, or matched to a custom brief such as green tea or a signature scent developed for your brand.
Functional additives are also possible, from deodorizing agents to gentle cleansers. Each addition affects the material safety documentation, so formulas are confirmed per project rather than assumed from a catalogue.
Packaging Options
Pet wipes typically ship in one of four packaging forms: soft pouches with a resealable label, canisters with a rigid lid for shelf presence, individually wrapped sachets for travel and sampling, or bulk bag-in-box formats for high-count use. Each format changes the fill line, the artwork area and the shelf-life calculation.
For private label, artwork, structure and pack count are developed together. A resealable soft pouch that carries a custom label at a 1,000-unit minimum order quantity is the usual starting point; fully custom structures generally require higher volumes.
MOQ and the Customization Path
As a working guide, neutral stock with your label typically starts at 1,000 units, while fully custom products start at 2,000 units. Custom printed packaging generally runs 5,000 to 10,000 units depending on the format. Final minimums are always confirmed against the specific specification.
Quality Checks Before Approval
Before a wipe program is approved, buyers usually review wet-strength performance, sheet count verification, pH and formula documentation, artwork proofs, and packing configuration against the approved sample. Requesting these against the final specification, not a generic sample, prevents most resubmission cycles.
A pre-production sample that matches the intended material, sheet size, formula and packaging is the single most useful reference for both sides. Approve the physical sample, then keep it as the reference for production inspection.
